New air packs are on their way to the Jefferson fire department.
City clerk Diane Kennedy reported to the city council last week on behalf of fire chief Randy Love that the department has ordered nine air packs, 16 bottles, and 13 masks and amplifiers.
The city council in February approved $10,000 from funds received from Wild Rose Casino as a match for $63,000 in grant applications for the purchase. The fire department received $35,000 from Grow Greene County and $11,000 from the Greene County Community Foundation. With the city’s matching funds, the department had enough from its fundraisers and donations to complete the purchase.
